Happy October 1st! Fall is in the air, leaves are starting to turn, football is on the “tube” and the holidays are almost upon us! YES, that’s right I said it. Did you know that there are ONLY 86 Days left til Christmas!?! If you are a Direct Seller, the next few months are going to be your BIGGEST selling months of the year. So, how do you capitalize on that? The heart of any Direct Selling Business is their parties. Whether you do yours as In-Home Parties or Online Parties, The #1, most important thing you need for a Party is… A HOSTESS!
“But Where can I find my next Hostess?”, You might ask. Well, lets brainstorm a little bit here. Start naming off some of the people you come in contact with on a daily Basis:
- Neighbors (current and past)
- Business Contacts
- Spouses friends and co-workers
- Restaurant Hostesses and Servers
- Mommy Friends
- Teachers and Coaches
- Doctors, Dentists or other medical professionals
- School or Sports Volunteers
- Retail Workers
- Flight Attendants
- Gym Trainers
- Past Guests and Hostesses
And that’s just off the top of my head in 10 Minutes! I’m sure you could think of Loads More!
“OK, Great,” you say, “But HOW do I approach them?” Well, most Direct selling Companies have Hostess Rewards and for good Reason! They want you to use them to encourage more bookings and more sales! So as you go about your day, instead of stressing yourself out looking for hostesses, reframe your mindset to “who am I going to spoil with these amazing hostess rewards today?” When you change your approach from a sales based approach to a “giveaway approach” I promise you, your bookings will go through the roof!
So, how many times has this scenario happened to you: You’re wearing your jewelry or leggings or using your cookware or whatever items you sell , someone sees it and compliments it and you freeze, not knowing what to say. Or, you start chatting them up and talking about all the amazing charms, or tools, or prints (whatever your into) and the story behind it (cause lets face we all LOVE to do that), but you can’t “seal the deal”. I have had that happen loads of times, and you know what I learned? I learned that as a Direct Seller I Should ALWAYS be networking, prospecting, and looking for leads, and that means I should always be prepared. It may seem like a lot, but trust me when I say, that quick trip to the grocery store or convenience store, could lead to your next $1000 party hostess, but if you are not prepared, then it will slip through your fingers.
Once I have the conversation started, I have my essential Items ready to go, now what? People LOVE free stuff. I always start off with how they can get XXX free. Something along the lines of “Hey you know what, I just happen to have the latest catalog here, and I would love to give you some free jewelry from it!” I will also point out a look that I think they might like and then wait to see what her reaction is. If I have done my job right, they should say “Free, How!?” and that is when I introduce the hostess rewards, and explain to them how she can earn free jewelry just from having a few friends over for an in home party, catalog party, or even a Facebook party. Know the hostess rewards program inside and out so you can speak quickly and confidently about all of the benefits she will get by being your next hostess!
When you lead with the value and benefits that your hostess will receive, the conversation doesn’t seem as scary or hard. At the very least, you can give them your catalog with your contact information, and then follow up a few days later.
